I think global climate change is the most important environmental issue of our time. With climate temperatures rising from greenhouse gasses, the weather will be more unpredictable and extreme. There will be more weather like floods, droughts, tornadoes, and hurricanes. There will also be more water in the ocean from melting polar icecaps, and snow will melt faster in the late winter/spring. We can prevent this by burning less fossil fuels. This will reduce greenhouse gasses, then less global climate change. STOP BURNING FOSSIL FUELS PEOPLE!!!!!!!

I want to do my report/letter on the polar bears and Shell's plan to start drilling for oil in the arctic. We need to stop using oil anyway!I already know some, but I need more info. I think polars bears are important because: They are cool

Coke needs an advertizing idea.
The subject that I think needs to be addressed is that we are running out of fossil fuels (coal, petroleum and natural gas) fast. In an estimated 25-35 years our sources will be almost completely used up. We need to find an alternate energy source not only for the U.S. but for the entire world! If we do not, the world will need to survive without an energy source until we can find another.
ReplyDeleteWhat has been a big problem for a while and needs to be addressed more heavily than it is, is littering. Not only is it ugly when you're driving down the road and you see trash everywhere, but it's also dangerous. If animals eat it, it might poison them. Mosquitoes can grow in litter that collects water. Un-put-out cigarette butts can cause forest fires. Also, on average, 800 people die each year from crashing into litter while driving on the road. Those are just a few problems with littering.

What one of the big problems is that too much oil and gas are being dropped into the ocean. We need to protect any trasportation that uses or carrys any fossil fuels, and double check if any part of the vehicale is losse. The people need to improve sea transportation and any plane that flys over the ocean.
ReplyDeleteThere is problem that we are working on, releasing wolves back into America. There are more problems behind that one than people think. Over the past years wolves have been being released back into North America but farmers and ranchers still have a big grudge against the wolf. Even though they are being released again does not mean that people won't poach and kill them. This is a problem that people don't think about. They are creatures that should live freely and not be endangered.

ReplyDeleteI want to do my report on the polar bears losing thier homes, and encroaching on humans habitat because of global warming and the loss of Artic ice caps. This is a really big problem and if we dont fix it soon the polar bear may go extinct.
I think the most important issue is pollution. Do you know that every year something like 10,000 fish wash up dead in the Chesapeake Bay? Animals got here before us and we have come here and polluted their world. My Uncle Richard takes kids on fishing field trips in Carolina Beach to teach them about the ocean and the animals that live there. He told me they found dead whales and dophins and later found out the cause was from pollution, they has swallowed lots of trash. I believe this is one of the most important issues because I love the outdoors.

ReplyDeleteI think that the most urgent issue is nuclear waste disposal. Currently the us stores its high level radioactive wast in large concrete and steel containers they should find a more suitable container for wastes that can heat up to high temperatures. and possibly melt containers if they were to crack and waste would leak out making the area surrounding uninhabitable. we are more susceptible to a melt down like Chernobyl than most other areas around the world except for japan or france but after fukishima japan may be slowing down. With the tons of waste that the U.S. gives off soon enough we will run out of space to store nuclear byproducts what happens after that?

ReplyDeleteI am concerned about the blue crab population and pollution in the Cheseapeake Bay. I am also concerned about beach erosion along the east coast because I like the beach and I like to swim. Cleve
