If you were the protagonist... (Due Friday, January 20th)
The protagonist is the main character who must solve or attempt to solve the story's major conflict. At the beginning of The Giver, Jonas is apprehensive about the assignment he will be given. In his community, elders choose jobs for each citizen by the time they turn 12. If you were in Jonas's position, what job do you think would have been chosen for you? Why? Remember to write at least 5 sentences in a well-developed paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.

If I was in Jonas's position, I think I would have been chosen as a military engineer. I do like military warfare personnel a lot and I am often drawing pictures of different kinds of planes, guns, tanks, etc., that I could invent. I also read books about stuff like that. I have patience for that kind of thing and I'm not the kind of person who would brag about how good his machinery is. I think I would be pretty happy about that job.

ReplyDeleteI want to be a receiver.I want to be a receiver because you could ask any question to anyone and you could lie if you had to. Some of the bad things about being a receiver are that you could not sign up for release,or you could not tell anyone about your training. Also, I would like to be a receiver because it was one of the most important jobs.
I would want to be a lawyer. I would want to be a lawyer because I enjoy creating arguments. I also think that I would be a lawyer because I can make fair decisions when needed. I think it's an important job because you make important decisions. I would also probably get that job because I am good at telling people that they are wrong.
ReplyDeleteI want to be an architect because I have spent most of my volunteer hours at the construction sites all over town. I have always asked the construction workers where they are getting the designs to construct the buildings. I found out that architects create the designs for the biuldings. If I had known what architects do, I would have tried my best in science at school. That is why I want to be an architect.
ReplyDeleteI would like to be chosen to be the head of the nurturing center because I like kids. It would be fun to take care of them when they were babies and give them their comfort object. I like the idea of taking care of someone who has just been born and is just coming into the world. Supporting new life makes me happy. I'd like to see what jobs they are given when they get older to make a contribution to the world.

ReplyDeleteI think I would be the recreation director because I love to play sports, and I am good at helping other people get better at their respective sport. I don't think I would be a good receiver like Jonas, because I am talkative and want to play with others. During my job as the recreational director, I would help kids learn to play football, baseball, and basketball, since they are my favorite sports. I would like to teach everyone to ski, because I enjoy skiing with my friends, but that would be impossible without hills or snow. I think that I would be a good recreation director, because of my love of sports.
